Eagles face another mauling

Battling Mashite Eagles are likely to be sent deeper into crisis when they exchange bats against tricky Hlakano Dodgers and Mamaolo Rebels at Hlakano diamonds, near Moletlane in Zebediela, on Sunday.

Eagles are struggling and their performance this season does not suggest they can win something this term.

They are among the pre-season relegation candidates.

Eagles are 10th on the 12-team log after they only managed four points from a possible 27.

The GaMphahlele side need to start winning their matches, and soon, if they entertain hopes of playing in the Super League next season.

But they will need to triple their efforts if they intend to overcome the challenges in Hlakano.

Dodgers, who are the newcomers in the top flight, might have lost six of their nine outings, but they are playing good softball.

Playing at home should also be a motivational factor for the seventh-placed Zebediela side.

It will also not be an easy match for Eagles against fifth-placed Rebels, who have not been disappointing this season.

Sunday's line-up in Hlakano will also see fourth-placed Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts in action against weak opponents.

Vincent Seteno's charges engage University of Limpopo at 10.30am and Kalkspruit Red Scorpions at 3.30pm.

If Wildbeasts win both matches, which is highly likely, they will close the gap between them and log leaders Mahwelereng Spikes to three points.

Fixtures: Dodgers v Eagles (10.30am); Wildbeasts v University (10.30am); Scorpions v University (1pm); Rebels v Eagles (1pm); Dodgers v Seshego Raiders (3.30pm); Wildbeasts v Scorpions (3.30).
