The prospect of a huge petrol price increase over the festive season is looming. Unfortunately, while we cannot do anything about external factors such as the price of oil, we can certainly do our bit to make the litres stretch further.
First and foremost, all of us need to drive slower. Drive 10km an hour less than the recommended speed limit and you can save up to 25percent in petrol. Also inflate your vehicle's tyres properly and switch off that air conditioner. Make sure your car's filters are in shape and try to reduce the number of trips you make. If you work for a big enough company, try car-pooling.
These are minor actions, but they have big consequences. And they are the only things we can do until we begin to embrace alternatives.
