Pupils at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls at Henley-on-Klip are writing their final examinations despite the sex scandal that rocked their school recently.

Two weeks ago, the academy's former dorm parent Virginia Makopo, 27, appeared in the Sebokeng magistrate's court for sexually molesting six girls.

When Winfrey broke her silence about the issue to the media two weeks ago, she announced that all dorm parents had been removed from the pupils residences and teachers were now in charge.

Lisa Halliday, Oprah Winfrey's communications director, said: "We will be conducting a highly targeted search for new dorm parents within the next few weeks."

The girls have received counselling from the Teddy Bear Clinic, an outpatient facility for abused children at the Johannesburg Hospital.

The talkshow host opened her R175million leadership academy that caters for 450 pupils earlier this year to empower young girls to be leaders.
