We refer to your article, "Final Whistle - Act Now to stem the demise of basketball", dated October 29 2007.

It must be stated that the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) has been instrumental in resolving the salary issue between Basketball South Africa and national coach Flosh Ngwenya.

After initiating negotiations between BSA, represented by its president Vusi Mghobozi, and the national coach, we are pleased that the dispute in salary has been amicably resolved. We are happy that the coach's salary for the period January to August 2007 was paid, as agreed with Ngwenya, about three weeks ago.

We are therefore surprised that your article contends that he has still not been paid.

Tubby Reddy,

General manager of Sascoc
