Skills crisis hits primary schools

"Our schools are among the worst in Africa," SAIRR said.

Among southern and eastern African countries that participated in the study on schooling quality, South Africa scored below average on reading and mathematics proficiency for Grade 6 pupils. Only one in five South African Grade 6 pupils attained the desired level of reading mastery. - Sapa
