No bail for four 'alien-robbers'

Four of the six men accused of terrorising foreign nationals were denied bail in the Vereeniging magistrate's court yesterday.

Themba Mofokeng, 21, Siphiwe Lukhele, 22, Jeremiah Zwane, 30, Julius Zwane, 31, Themba Xasibe, 35, and Thamsanqa Ndongweni, 23, are charged with orchestrating a string of robberies in Orange Farm in the Vaal.

Magistrate Bruno van Eeden granted Zwane and Xasibe R2000 bail each.

It is alleged that the men targeted Pakistani nationals in the area, robbing them of cash and stock. Investigating officer Inspector Joseph Zaba told the court yesterday that the men were a syndicate.

The case was postponed to November 27 for further investigations. - Ntwaagae Seleka
