Members of uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) yesterday called on President Thabo Mbeki to withdraw from the ANC presidential race.
By making himself available for the presidency, Mbeki was creating "a conflictual situation where the president of the party is not the same as that of the country".
The veterans also endorsed Jacob Zuma's candidacy, saying he has earned the position through his service to the ANC and his experience earned as deputy president of the country. - Ido Lekota
