SABC 3 soapie Isidingo is rocking. This showed at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) where they collected 11 awards.
The ceremony was held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, on Sunday.
This gives the show a total of 23 awards for the soapie in two years. Last year, Isidingo netted 12 Safta awards.
Though television viewers voted Generations the most favourite soapie in Mzansi, Isidingo is the best. The quality and interesting storyline has proved captivating to a jury that included local actors, producers, journalists and script writers.
Television analyst Tashi Tatt, of Television South Africa, said Isidingo collected the most awards because it is a better show.
"What makes Isidingo tick, is a quality story- line. Unlike Generations, which regularly telll unreal stories, Isidingo is unmatched.
"Many people can identify with the soapie's storyline easily. It reflects the life of many South Africans.
"Since its inception, the storyline has been steadily real. However, I feel they need to add a little bit of humour to the story. It is too serious."
Tatt said although 7de Laan was not nominated, it remains the best soapie locally.
"I think 7de Laan has got it all. It has humour, a quality storyline and highly professional actors. It's a pity it was not nominated."
Tatt believes that even though Isidingo deserved to win the 11 awards, is was just too much.
"However, the secret behind Isidingo' s success is that it keeps the same actors for a long time."
