'Bible bars transfusions'

LONDON - Jehova's Witnesses said yesterday they were concerned for the family of a young mother who died after giving birth to twins because her faith prevented her from accepting a blood transfusion.

LONDON - Jehova's Witnesses said yesterday they were concerned for the family of a young mother who died after giving birth to twins because her faith prevented her from accepting a blood transfusion.

Emma Gough, 22, of Telford, Shropshire, in England, gave birth to a baby boy and girl at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital last Thursday. But complications set in after she suffered severe blood loss. Witnesses believe the Bible prohibits the accepting of blood. - Reuters
