Legendary tennis star Boris Becker is expected to invade Umlazi township tomorrow when he visits Cwebezela Senior Primary School as part of his peace promotion campaign.
Becker, 40, is a patron of the international non-governmental organisation, Peace Players International, which promotes peace and a healthy lifestyle through basketball.
The former world No 1 tennis player and six-time Grand Slam singles champion from Germany, burst onto the scene in 1985 as an unknown 17-year-old and has never looked back.
Pupils at M Pathevan Primary School in Chatsworth, which is twinned with Cwebezela Primary, will also celebrate with Becker.
Bukhosibakhe Mzolo, principal of Cwebezela Senior Primary in Umlazi, said they were excited about Becker's visit.
"The excitement is overwhelming among the pupils and teachers. Having such a world-renowned player in our school is a privilege and we are excited about his involvement in such a vital campaign that ensures unity among people of different cultures, traditions, beliefs and religions," he said.
He said the theme "unity in our diversity" was befitting the event and the end results.
Mathew Geschki, of Peace Players International, said they had been working with the schools in the country since 2000.
They brought children from different backgrounds together to learn more about each other's cultures through sports. They would do the same in other areas.
