Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
A Mpumalanga man was arrested after a security guard caught him red-handed with stolen copper cables worth about R2000 on Tuesday evening.
The 25-year-old suspect from Blinkpan was nabbed after stealing copper cables at the Nkomati Power Station shortly after 7pm.
"The security guard arrested the suspect and called us to take him away," said Mpumalanga police spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane yesterday.
He admitted that the theft of copper cables was on the increase in the province, and asked members of the community with information about such thefts to call the nearest police station.
