The darling of the bakkie lovers has received a facelift, Toyota South Africa has announced this week.

Despite having done so well in the market, the Japanese car maker did not want to wait until it was too late to introduce a few cosmetic changes.

According to Toyota SA, the changes reflect its commitment to the constant refinement of its vehicles in keeping with the philosophy of continual improvement.

The top specification Hilux Raider models benefit from a cosmetic enhancement with the grille and front bumper now fully chromed. On Double Cab Raider models, the "Toyota" decal is replaced with a chrome badge (this change applies to the SRX Double Cab as well).

Auto up/down with safety protection for the power windows is added for the Raider Double Cab derivatives.

The Hilux SRX specification level now includes a safety package that adds ABS brakes and driver and passenger front airbags to the list of features. Central door locking is also added to the SRX specification.

Air conditioning is now available as a factory-fitted option on the Hilux base models. The Hilux is South Africa's most popular 1-Ton light commercial regularly challenging the more popular passenger vehicles for a position in the top-three sellers each month.

Pricing:

Hilux 2,0 VVT-i Single Cab is priced at R133000

Hilux 2,5 D-4D goes for R153400

Hilux 2.7 VVT-i Double Cab Raised Body Raider is priced at R239300

Hilux 4,0 V6 Double Cab 4x4 Raider Auto goes for R332500
