Playing exciting football has helped AmaZulu secure a R20 million sponsorship from chain store company Spar, two weeks after signing a sponsorship deal with Reebok.
The good news was announced yesterday in a glittering event held in Durban.
The sponsorship, which runs for three years, is renewable only if "the team performs better".
Mike Prentice from Spar said it was good that they are involved with AmaZulu again, a team they sponsored 20 years ago.
"Our relationship with AmaZulu goes back a long way, when the money in football was not as it is today. We are excited that we have a relationship with the team that has shown a lot of growth from the previous years," said Prentice.
"We are aware of the problems they had in the past and now that they have gone through them, we believe it will be an exciting journey in the next three years."
He made it clear that one of the stipulations of the contract is that the team will have to maintain its Absa Premiership status.
Club chairman Patrick Sokhela said he hoped that the reunion would bring back the glory days of 20 years ago.
"Twenty years ago, while they were our main sponsor, the team went from strength to strength and saw us winning the Coca Cola Cup and I believe we would achieve the same glory again. A certain potion of the money would be used for football development as we want to build a strong team for the future," he said.
