Finnish technology group Nokia said it remained the world's top selling cellphone maker, with a market share of about 39percent, up from 38percent in June.
But handset sales inched up by only 3percent to ß6,1billion during the quarter.
In terms of volume the group sold 111,7million handsets, an increase of 26percent from the same quarter a year ago.
The discrepancy between sales value and volume is attributed to Nokia's strong position in emerging markets, where phones in the low-cost range are more popular than expensive phones.
The company said its handset sales rose in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, China and Asia-Pacific. - AFP
