The so-called Fifa week has come and gone and left South Africans with nothing to cheer about, except to put all their hopes on the Springboks in the rugby World Cup final tomorrow night.

First it was the Black Meteors of Ghana, ably led by Asamoah Gyan, who put the issue of our non-qualification for the 2008 Beijing Olympics beyond doubt with a 3-1 pasting of their South African counterparts in Accra last Sunday. The dream was shattered and the investment flushed down the drain.

As if that was not enough, Bafana Bafana flew out to Italy for an international friendly against the Azzurri who are the reigning world champions. For more than 80 minutes the South Africans held their own until a sucker of a goal and an exquisite second header saw us capitulate to a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday.

These are just two of the highlights the African Soccer Television show will be carry on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday.
