Protesting students from the University of Johannesburg suspended their actions yesterday.
The students were protesting a 14percent fee increase. Student leader George Molepo said the Department of Education had promised to appoint a mediator during a meeting yesterday .
Molepo said the students were prepared to enter into fresh negotiations provided the university's management suspended the proposed 14percent fee increase.
"Management has not provided reasons for a 14percent increase. We have evidence the university can be sustained for the next two years without increases," Molepo said. - Kingdom Mabuza
