Two elderly women were conned out of an estimated R50000 by two 'sangomas' who approached them soon after making a withdrawal from a bank.
Chris Botha, Netcare 911 spokesman, said the two elderly women had been to the bank and had just withdrawn about R50000 in cash for a traditional ritual when they were approached.
They were taken to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital after they were found lying on the ground, heavily drugged, after being given a concoction to "fortify their huge pile of cash".
Police spokesman Captain Daniela Veldhuizen confirmed the incident, but could not give the actual figure of cash stolen from the two victims. - Canaan Mdletshe
