Only 10 of the 23 illegal miners killed by fire in a disused mine shaft in Free State had been identified by yesterday.
Police spokesman Superintendent William Mokwena said police were looking for the families of four of them. "The four have name tags but their relatives are apparently in Lesotho, and our newspapers do not cover that area."
Mokwena urged families of the dead miners to visit the Welkom state mortuary to help with the identification process.
The underground fire at unused shafts of St Helena Mine near Welkom claimed the lives of 23 illegal miners at the end of last month. - Sapa
