Mpumalanga police are looking for a man who allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl who was on her way to school on Monday morning.
The incident happened when the girl from Embalenhle township, near Secunda, stopped by the man's store to buy fruit.
He allegedly dragged her into his house where he raped her repeatedly until n the afternoon.
"The suspect later released the victim but she started wandering around the streets until one of her neighbours found her," said police spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane yesterday.
After the victim's mother was informed about the alleged rape, she took her daughter to a doctor who confirmed that she had been raped. The suspect has since fled his home.
