Progress visible at Peter Mokaba

The Limpopo 2010 World Cup inter-ministerial committee will hold a meeting in Polokwane today to discuss the preparations for the tournament.

Pandelani Ramagoma, the provincial 2010 World Cup coordinator, said the committee was chaired by Joyce Mashaba, the sports and recreation MEC.

"It is a political structure that deals with policy matters relating to the 2010 World Cup in Limpopo, they will discuss the progress of the preparations.

"The committee will also deal with issues pertaining to future plans in relation to the 2010 World Cup preliminary draw in Durban on November 25."

Thabo Makunyane, executive mayor of Polokwane and mayors of the affected district municipalities are also part of the inter-ministerial committee.

Meanwhile, Makunyane is overjoyed that Peter Mokaba Sports Complex's foundation is has breached the surface, which clearly shows their preparations are on track.

The stadium, which is only a stone's throw from the existing stadium, will be one of the 10 venues for the World Cup.

"We've made tremendous progress which is there for everyone to see, we are also busy reconstructing our roads in preparation for the tournament," said Makunyane.
