A Mpumalanga mother is desperate to find her 16-year-old daughter who disappeared last week Friday.

Lettie Mbele, a South African Police Service employee, told Sowetan that her daughter Dumisile, of KaNyamazane in Nelspruit, was called out of the house by friends at about 6pm.

"I never saw my child again," said the distraught mother yesterday.

She said when she asked the friends who had called out her daughter where she was, they claimed that an unknown man had dragged her away.

Police spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane said KaNyamazane police were investigating.

The girl is a Grade 11 pupil at Thembeka High School in KaNyamazane.

When Sowetan arrived at the family home yesterday her mother was speaking to police about her child's disappearance.

She frantically searched for her picture so that it could be published but could not find it.
