Spirited Eastern Province staged a second half rally to lift the Women's Interprovincial Rugby League A Section title after beating reigning champions the Bulls 22-13 in an exciting final at East London at the weekend.

A happy Eric Songwiqi, Eastern Province coach, attributed their success to tactical changes he made in the second half.

In the first phase they were trailing 0-13 to the defending champions who were in total control. Seeing red, Songwiqi brought on Minki Ncwadi, Nolusindoso Apleni and Ramona Brown for Zenay Jordaan, Nocwaka Nopulula and Ayandiswe Mahambi to fortify the team in the second half.

His move paid off handsomely as the threesome brought stability to the team and managed to control the Bulls' marauding forwards. Midway through this half they scored 22 points with no reply and ultimately emerged victorious.

Namhla Siyola, centre Lorinda Brown, lock forward Nopulula and fullback Zandile Nojoko scored a try apiece and Mari-Lee Erasmus converted.
