The University of Johannesburg will host a public lecture at the Bunting Road campus tonight to deal with the 2010 World Cup and the spin-offs from it.
Scheduled to start at 7.30pm at the faculty of art, design and architecture auditorium, it is hosted by the university's department of sport and movement studies.
Wolfgang Buss of the Institute of Sport Sciences at the University of Gottingen, Germany, will deliver a keynote address.
The aim is to explore the impact, challenges and actions of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa, said Chris Fortuin of the sport and human movement studies department.
The lecture is entitled, "Potential social, political and economical learning impacts from 2006 Fifa World Cup in Germany for South Africa 2010".
It will also debate whether South Africa can accommodate the challenges of the premier soccer event.
