The former boyfriend of an Eastern Cape woman who was last seen in KwaZulu-Natal, fears the woman might have fallen prey to the Umzinto serial killer.

Eight bodies have been found in the KwaZulu-Natal area and have been linked to a suspected serial killer.

These figures could rise as police are receiving more reports of missing women.

Police spokesman Zandra Hechter confirmed that detectives had visited the Eastern Cape for further investigations.

Zuzile Tshongaye, 29, left Durban in January in the company of a man who had promised her a job in the Transkei.

At the time, her former boyfriend Sacchi Makwela alerted Sowetan about her disappearance.

Makwela yesterday said police are still investigating the case after eight months.
