It seems as though this year has brought luck and fortune to many South African artists.

Many of them will be laughing all the way to the bank. Some local artists who have done well include Bhekumuzi Luthuli, Sechaba and Thokozani Langa.

Luthuli, who recently shot a live DVD of his album, Inkinga Ngu R7, at the Bassline in Newtown in Johannesburg, is a real winner. As has become the norm with Luthuli, his album gained double platinum for selling more than 100000 copies.

Luthuli continues to show his skills as a composer as well as a singer. He uses music to tell a story. Early this year, the maskandi muso won a Sama for best mbaqanga music. He was also nominated for a Satma, that will take place in Durban shortly.

Luthuli has been generating much excitement internationally and his DVD will be a great platform to expose this talented man to the world.

Another artist with talent is Bhekumuzi, who has spent many years in the industry but is as popular today as he ever was.

An artist with real character is gospel singer Sechaba Pali. His debut album has proved that he is a force to be reckoned with. His album, Sechaba, made platinum after selling more than 50000 copies.

The former street kid and Joyous Celebration member has done remarkably well since he went solo in 2005.

Maskandi singer Thokozani Langa is also on the list of much-loved artists.

His controversial album, Phuma Kimi, has sold more than 25000 copies. The popular traditional artist was also nominated for Satma.
