Workshop for sports doctors

The 2010 Fifa World Cup Local Organising Committee has arranged a workshop for sports medical practioners to be held in Kimberley on October 5.

The 2010 Fifa World Cup Local Organising Committee has arranged a workshop for sports medical practioners to be held in Kimberley on October 5.

Victor Ramathesele, who is employed by the LOC as medical consultant, will lead the proceedings.

Ramathesele is expected to give a talk on the importance of medicine in the World Cup.

Ramathesele, who is a former Bafana Bafana medical doctor, also serves on the medical commissions of Fifa and that of the Confederation of African Football.He is also well-known for his radio and television healthcare talk shows and sports medicine column he used to write forSowetan newspaper.

Patrick Lenyibi, the executive mayor of Sol Plaatje Muni- cipality, said they were working hard to prepare for the World Cup despite not being a host city.

Lenyibi said major developments taking place in the town included the building of bigger hotels and improvements of roads.

Sol Plaatje Municipality and the Northern Cape government have formed a partnership with the City of Mangaung and the Free State government on matters concerning preparations for the World Cup.
