Ajax Cape Town are in seventh heaven after news that Kaizer Chiefs' deadly midfielder David Mathebula will not be playing when the two sides meet in a Premiership game at Loftus Stadium tomorrow night.

The Urban Warriors' publicist Thabiso "Shooz" Mekuto said his side was relieved after hearing Mathebula would not be in the starting line-up.

"We're happy that Mathebula will not be in the team and that will give our midfielders a passage to their goals. He is an excellent player and he normally gives us sleepless nights," said Mekuto.

"Now this gives us an opportunity to plan Chiefs' downfall."

Mathebula fractured his right leg in a league game against SuperSport United last weekend and club medical doctor Peter Matseke said he Mathebula would out of action for a long time.

"SuperSport players hacked the boy left, right and centre and the referee only waved the game on."

Mathebula underwent an operation on Wednesday and Matseke believes he could be back after four weeks.

Amakhosi will have to make do without Mathebula, and are helped by a strong pool of players to select from.

Shaun Bartlett, Kaizer Motaung Jnr and Cyril Nzama could contain their opponents.

Ajax can count on youngsters like Andile Mbenyane, Aiden Jenniker and Mario Booysen.
