Blacks have drifted away from their values

Charles Mogale's Flipside column, especially his simcard analogy, really got to me.

Charles Mogale's Flipside column, especially his simcard analogy, really got to me.

We black people have somehow lost our values. We have drifted so far from who we are. We are in the likeness of God, born to "make it". Look around and what do you see? Our leaders are fighting, our children are on partying and killing sprees.

Our girls are in the fast lane to motherhood. What happened to our simcards?

I am a mother of two boys, and that alone freaks me out.

We do not have men who want to step up and be fathers to these boys. We do not have women who will mother these girls. I'm using the umbrella approach on purpose, I know there are women who do not sleep, women who pray for our children. It's time we went back to black.

It's not a joke to bring a life on earth. Let's fix up our simcards, let's go back to the manufacturer. It was a pleasure reading Sowetan on Wednesday. Thank you Mogale for re-lighting my candle.
