The small team, supported by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) and consisting only of swimmers and athletes, has collected 13 medals since the Games started on September 9.
With the Paralympic Games in Beijing just over a year away, this opportunity is being used to give more athletes a chance to qualify for the showcase.
Paralymic gold medallist Zanele Situ (paralysed from the waist down) has impressed on her return to competition after a two-year layoff after the birth of her child. She won gold in the javelin with a distance of 13,62 metres and came fourth in the shot put (4.97m), which was completed in pouring rain.
Swimmer Emily Gray won gold in the 100m backstroke and finished third in the 100 freestyle.
Sibusiso Mhlanga took silver in the 100m backstroke. Adri Visser finished fourth in the 200m freestyle and the 50m freestyle. - Sapa
