Bucs organise trials for goalkeepers

Orlando Pirates' development programme has embarked on a search for goalkeepers to prepare for the 2008/09 soccer season.

"We have organised trials on Tuesday for youngsters born in 1996 and afterwards," said Augusto "Njenje" Palacios, head of the technical team.

"The trials are specifically for goalkeepers, we won't consider other players because that is the department where we are still lacking.

"All interested youngsters should bring along their playing equipment and also make their own transport arrangements.

"We will also be using the school holidays to conduct extra lessons for our players, with the emphasis on a life skills programme.

"We will be inviting all sorts of experts to assist the boys, it is also important to get people from the media to help them on how to deal with journalists."

Palacios said they will also be using the school holidays to evaluate the players on their performance this year, with those who fared badly shown the door.

"We will also continue with a workshop for coaches which started in August with the theory part, we will be doing practicals this time round. Coaches will also be evaluated. Congratulations to Junior Bhengu for winning the Under-19 Colts League." - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
