Fake birth papers bust

A 28-year-old woman arrested for being in possession of fraudulent birth certificates appeared in the KwaMsane magistrates' court yesterday.

A 28-year-old woman arrested for being in possession of fraudulent birth certificates appeared in the KwaMsane magistrates' court yesterday.

The woman was arrested in Mfekayi Reserve in Mtubatuba, northern KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday after police received a tip-off that there were people making fraudulent birth certificates in the area.

When police arrived at the homestead, they saw a woman carrying a big envelope.

Police spokesman Jabulani Mdletshe said the woman looked suspicious and the police decided to stop and search her.

"A number of fraudulent birth certificates were found inside the envelope," Mdletshe said. - Sne Masuku
