About 100000 people were without water for a few weeks in the Vhembe district of Limpopo, officials said yesterday.
But the municipality's head of communications services, Ndivhuwo Mamathuba, said it was untrue to say there were water shortages because water supplies had been restored.
"A burst pipe took long to fix because we found the pipes were made of asbestos. We had to replace them, but it took time. They have now been replaced with plastic pipes."
But residents said the water situation had not changed. - Sapa
