Bafana lacks in formation

While I think he is a revelation and has changed our fortunes, I have to agree with Farouk Abrahams that the defensive 4-5-1 is as much to blame for our run of four games without a win, as is the inability of our players to score or retain possession after a pass.

The midfield is so jammed up that they do not have a chance of eliminating any players before they can pass the ball, resulting in little or no ability to make that final pass. We flatter to deceive because we have possession, but it goes nowhere because the final touch is lacking. Having a lone striker for a team that struggles to score goals is a great concern as well.

Then there's laziness. If we are five doing the same job, then perhaps I do not have to run as hard to defend, because we have nine others behind me. Why is it Zambia played better when they were a man down? Everyone took the responsibility of replacing the player.

Zambia had two of the best strikers in the recent history of the PSL and we had only one. For Zambia, one pass to the middle field was followed by another to the strikers who had the ability to hold play and exchange passes between themselves.
