Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
A 16-year-old schoolgirl in Mpumalanga has lost her lower lip in a vicious catfight with a rival over a boyfriend.
Nikiwe Ndlovu of Thulamahashe Section C is recovering at Mapulaneng Hospital in Bushbuckridge after an operation.
Ndlovu said she was visiting Andries Nkosi at New Forest village on Thursday when a jealous Khensani Ubisi attacked her.
Ndlovu is a Grade 11 pupil at the Langa High School in Kumani village while the attacker is a Grade 9 pupil at Mzimba High School at Lephong village, both in Bushbuckridge.
"This other girl came all the way from her home looking for a fight," Ndlovu mumbled from her hospital bed on Saturday.
Ndlovu said Ubisi was swearing as she dragged her out of Nkosi's house before laying into her with punches and kicks.
"I fought back to defend myself, but before I knew it she bit off my lower lip. Next thing I knew, I was lying on this bed in hospital without a lip."
The missing lip had not been recovered by yesterday afternoon.
Nkosi, 21, pleaded innocence. "I'm just a man who had two girlfriends. They decided to fight for me," the Romeo said yesterday.
He had not yet visited the girl who lost the most in the battle for his affections.
"I've better things to do and I'm struggling to survive by getting piece jobs, so where do you think I can get time to go to the hospital? Anyway, I no longer love either of the girls because they dragged my name into the mud over nothing."
The casual philanderer said it was no offence for an African man to be in love with two girls and he, therefore, believed he was not to blame for the skirmish.
Nkosi said each girl knew about her rival. Friends said Ubisi was hiding from the police and was unavailable for comment.
