The Fifa Under-17 World Cup is African property for the next two years.

Well, it actually belongs to Nigeria. The west African country's under-17 youngsters became the pride of the continent when they crushed the mighty Spain 3-2 on penalties in the finals in South Korea last Sunday.

That was after the junior Eaglets had dispatched the other European giants, Germany with a humiliating 3-1 victory in the semifinals.

This is just one of the highlights the African Soccer Television show has in store for viewers on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday at 5.30pm.

The Nigerians' triumph takes centre stage because of the magnitude of the achievement and respect they brought the continent from other footballing quarters.

The past weekend saw a number of Ghana 2008 Afcon qualifiers being played and countries booking their places at the continental showpiece. The only reason South Africans can smile is because Bafana Bafana managed to qualify, albeit through the back door.

The Chris Katongo-inspired 3-1 pasting at the hands of Zambia's Chipolopolo may be very painful to watch again as its highlights are flighted.

Six other Afcon qualifiers are also on the menu with Gabon's goalless draw against super Ivory Coast leading the way, then Mauritius and Seychelles sharing the spoils at 1-all.

Also featured are Kenya edging Angola 2-1, Senegal's annihilation of Burkina Faso 5-1 at home and Mozambique surprising Tanzania 1-0 in their own backyard, while the Democratic Republic of Congo and Libya settled for a 1-1 draw. The Ghana-Morocco international friendly wraps up the programme.
