Get a steal at auctions

If you are not wealthy you can still afford to buy a vehicle from an auction. Auction Operation conducts a monthly auction for Santam Insurance where bargains can still be bought. It is not uncommon for buyers to buy a running vehicle for under R10 000!

"I once gave my business card to a car guard at Cresta shopping centre and never thought anything of it.

"He then attended the Santam Auction and bought a Toyota Cressida for R7000.

"I later bumped into him again and he informed me that he made a R4000 profit on the vehicle and will be attending the Santam auction again to buy another vehicle," says auctioneer Mark Bezuidenhout.

The public perception is sometimes misunderstood when it comes to buying vehicles at an insurance auction.

It is possible to buy vehicles in excellent condition for very good prices.

Buyers should attend the viewing day and are welcome to bring a mechanic to go through the vehicles.

On some cheapies such as Corollas, Lasers, Unos, Sentras and Golfs the bidding starts at R5000.

Other more upmarket vehicles such as a 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL600, 2002 Condor, 2003 Hilux, 2004 Volvo S40, 2005 Freelander and so on will also be sold at this auction.

The auction will take place at Santam, 49 Fabriek Street, Strijdom Park, Randburg on Tuesday, September 18, oat 10.30am.

Viewing will be the day before, on Monday, from 9am to 4pm.
