We have identity crisis

As we celebrate the life and times of Stephen Bantu Biko this month, it is difficult to speculate on how he would be doing in this new South Africa.

As we celebrate the life and times of Stephen Bantu Biko this month, it is difficult to speculate on how he would be doing in this new South Africa.

Biko was one of our struggle stalwarts who worked hard to make this country what it is.

Black Consciousness is poorer without him. As South Africans, we have become a nation with a serious identity crisis, particularly the educated blacks . Biko tried to show us that we don't need the affirmation of white people to liberate ourselves . Biko's book, I Write What I Like, is still relevant - South Africans should be encouraged to learn more about their identities.
