Jonathan Olivier had planned a big birthday party for his daughter who will turn two on Saturday.

But the toddler will be burying him after he was shot in the head, allegedly by a bouncer at a restaurant in Rossetenville, Johannesburg, on Sunday. Olivier, an inspector in the SAPS stationed at Jeppe, died instantly.

"A quarrel had ensued between Olivier and the bouncer. The police officer was shot in the head," said police spokesman Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo.

The bouncer will appear in court today.
