Football icon and businessman Jomo Matsilele Sono will create employment for the poor people of Port Danford in northern KwaZulu-Natal when he builds a hotel there.

He signed a working agreement with the community at a glittering ceremony yesterday afternoon.

His company, Jomo Sono Investments, will build the hotel in an impoverished area under the leadership of inkosi Mkhontokayise Mkhwanazi.

The project will employ local people, both during the building process and later when the hotel is operational.

Cedric Xulu, the chief executive of Jomo Sono Investments, said they had signed a joint venture with the community that would benefit it during and after the 2010 World Cup. - Canaan Mdletshe
