Pat "Fingers" Moyaha, Limpopo Eagles Golf Social Club's publicist, says their golfers are ready, willing and able to clinch the yearly inter-provincial tournament in Polokwane on September 23.

Moyaha said yesterday that they were expecting 200 golfers from golf social clubs from across the country to compete on the day.

The tournament will be played over 18 holes in a betterball stableford format and tee-off is at 7am.

It will be the first time that the event is staged in September since its inception three years ago.

This is after the organisers decided to separate it from the popular Peter Mokaba Memorial Golf Challenge that is staged yearly in June.

The hosts' golfers are buoyed going into the event after they broke their jinx against Botswana when they won the yearly Limpopo- Botswana Golf Challenge in Gaborone last weekend.

Botswana were crowned the inaugural champions of the event in 2005 at home and repeated the feat in Limpopo last year.

The Limpopo club did not only win the two-day event in Gaborone, but their golfers also scooped individual awards for their inspired display.

Piet Chauke of Dipekwa Golf Social Club was voted the player of the tournament. His teammate from Dipekwa, Zavier Makhanda, was voted the second-best player nd David Munyai of Makhado was named the third-best golfer of the tournament.

"I'm confident that these players will translate their impressive performances they displayed in Gaborone into the inter-provincial tourney," said Moyaha yesterday.
