Ephraim Memeza, the man who had accused Gift Mpho Leremi of assault, said yesterday he was shocked to learn of the footballer's death.

Memeza laid charges of assault against Leremi, accusing him of attacking him at a petrol station in Sandton in December last year.
Leremi walked out of court on June 26 a free man. Outside court Leremi and Memeza shook hands and hugged.
"He was just moving on with his life. I saw him play for Sundowns last week and I was impressed," Memeza said.
