VENICE - Hollywood star, Charlize Theron reflected on life as a celebrity while in Venice to promote In theValley of Elah, a film by Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis, in which she co-stars with Tommy Lee Jones.
"We've got so used to seeing celebrities airbrushed on magazine covers, and we believe that's reality, and it really isn't," Theron told APTV.
Asked how she dealt with walks down the red carpets as paparazzi snap away, Theron recommended having a drink.
A "glass of champagne is good before" joining the celebrity parade, she said.
"I don't know. My philosophy is to enjoy it, and I do that by travelling with family and friends."
Reports surfaced in Hollywood last week that Theron and Stuart Townsend, her friend of seven years, are engaged.
The South African-born Theron apparently boasts a huge diamond ring since the couple returned from a holiday in the rain forests of Belize.
She celebrated her 32nd birthday there.
After the news broke, Hollywood gossip websites have been buzzing with news that she might marry him.
The couple apparently earlier sworn an oath not to get married until US gay couples also had the right to get married.
Theron is presently to be seen in Battle of Seattle, Townsend's debut as film director. The movie is about the battle between police and protesters during the World Trade Organisation's conference in Seattle in 1999. - Reuters
