'Violence not ours'

The chairman of Seshego-Polokwane Taxi Association Monageng Ledwaba has dismissed claims that there is violence in their industry.

This follows the weekend execution-style killing of Joseph Mogale, 41, and Cassius Raselabe, 30.

Ledwaba yesterday assured members of the public not to start pressing panic buttons, thinking there was violence among taxi operators.

He said contrary to reports, the two deaths were not of members of their association.

"We really regret the loss of lives in the manner in which the two were killed. But, definitely those killed were not our members," said Ledwaba.

"The association has been successful in dealing with issues of violence and continue to deal with challenges on a daily basis to avoid any loss of life," he added.

Seshego police spokesman Inspector Mohlaka Mashiane said two people had been arrested and charged with murder.
