Employers told to pay

The Johannesburg labour court has ordered two Kwik Spar employers in Bloemfontein and a marketing company to pay more than R400000 in outstanding amounts to its employees, the Department of Labour said yesterday.

The Johannesburg labour court has ordered two Kwik Spar employers in Bloemfontein and a marketing company to pay more than R400000 in outstanding amounts to its employees, the Department of Labour said yesterday.

"The court ruled that Meditas Kwik Spar must pay back R218561.21 plus 25percent interest due to its 35 employees, while Fauna Kwik Spar must pay its 23 employees an outstanding amount of R217850.21 plus 25 percent," said department spokeswoman Zolisa Sigabi.

The court also ordered Maximiz Marketing and Development to pay an employee R16000 for two months' outstanding salary, as well as interest owed to him from two years ago. - Sapa
