It never rains but pours for two men who were caught in possession of about R2million worth of dagga two weeks ago.
Fikile Mzuzwane and Petros Malinga, both aged 36, are now implicated in an earlier large dagga haul in Gauteng.
The two men appeared in the Piet Retief magistrates' court on Thursday and were remanded in custody pending their next court appearance on September 14.
Shortly after their court appearance, Gauteng police questioned them in connection with 28 bags of dagga confiscated at a house in Westonaria, Johannesburg.
Police said two men fitting the accused's description had sped off in a kombi shortly after delivering the dagga. About a week later they allegedly drove through the border illegally from Swaziland to South Africa in a minibus taxi with the same description.
Police spokesman Constable Eric Sibisi said: "We had received a tip-off that the kombi would be carrying 19 bags of dagga.
"We then staged a roadblock where the suspects were stopped and searched and found dagga worth about R2million."
Westonaria police spokesman Constable Audrey Sefara said police confiscated 28 bags of dagga and Anna Sithole, 33, was arrested at her house.
"She appeared in court on Thursday and is expected to appear again [yesterday]," Sefara said.
