Security was his passion

Themba Hope Jamnda, 60, was so passionate about the security of his community and was secretary of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in his area when he died.

He lived at 33 Meintjies Street in Clayville West, Olifantsfontein, for 14 years, where he was a member of the CPF for more than 10 years.

Jamnda was born in Alexandra township on May 25 1947. His family later moved to Orlando East in Soweto.

He was a student at Orlando High School, where he matriculated, and furthered his education at Fort Hare University and at the University of Zululand.

At both universities he was a an active member of the Students Representative Council and was very active in student politics.

Jamnda was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He supported the organisation with enthusiasm.

Jamnda is survived by his wife, Yvonne, two sisters, nine children and three grandchildren.

The funeral service, which will be conducted by members of the AA and Al-Anon groups, will be held at 7am at home tomorrow and he will be buried at Glen Austin, graveyard, in Midrand.
