Oprah's Obama party 'crashes' wedding plans

US talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is trying to force a bridal party to ditch its wedding plans in favour of a coming political fundraiser she is hosting, according to reports.

Winfrey will host a celebrity-studded fundraiser for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama at her Santa Barbara mansion on September 8. She was reportedly disappointed to learn local ranch San Ysidro had been booked out for a wedding, because she had wanted her invited guests to stay there.

A source told the New YorkDaily News, that "due to the proximity to and the cachet of the ranch to Winfrey's estate, her people had been calling the bride to either move or vacate some of the rooms to accommodate her guests. The bride is not budging."

But Marco Perry, manager of the San Ysidro ranch, insisted Winfrey did not force the bride from the venue, but confirmed rooms had been made available.

"The wedding party did cancel a few rooms, but we didn't charge them a cancellation fee because there was such demand for the rooms that weekend," he said.

However, Winfrey's production company Harpo denied claims that calls were made to the bride.

George Clooney, Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx are expected to attend the party. - Wenn
