Ngqushwa Municipality in Eastern Cape announced yesterday it would investigate suspended manager Zoyisile Kanzi.

Although the municipality's speaker, Victor Moyeni, confirmed that Kanzi would be probed, he could not say for what.

The municipality has also failed to provide reasons for Kanzi's suspension.

"He will soon be investigated and in the process he will be charged," Moyeni said.

Kanzi will also come before a disciplinary hearing after he had been charged.

Asked what would happen to Kanzi after the the hearing was completed, Moyeni said: "Once the investigation is finished everything is possible."

Opposition parties in the municipality have accused the ANC of dragging its feet in stabilising municipalities with problems.

UDM spokesman Masiza Mhlathi said leaders in the Ngqushwa and King Sabata Dalindyebo municipalities were engaged in a power struggle at the expense of the poor.

"These politicians' squabbles have a negative impact on service delivery," he said.
