Sameehg Doutie, the 18-year-old wing sensation, was the hero of Ajax Cape Town's 1-0 victory over Black Leopards in the Castle Premiership League game at Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening.
There was drama late in the second half when referee Buyile Gqubule red-carded Nathan Paulse, an Ajax substitute striker and Leopards defender Wanani Mulaudzi for an off-the-ball incident. Mulaudzi had earlier earned himself a yellow card.
Ajax had most of the possession in the goalless first half, with Doutie proving a menace down the right flank. The busiest player was Leopards goalkeeper Mashudu Mamphita, who was forced to bring off a number of daring saves. However, in the opening minutes of the second half, Mamphita was injured and was stretchered off. He was replaced by Ephraim Tjhonde.
Doutie was rewarded in the 70th minute when he latched onto a cross from Franklin Cale to score the sole goal.
John Comitis, the Ajax boss, said the ground had been double-booked for Saturday night and he had to pay big money to a minstrel organisation to ensure the game took place. - Sapa
