The farmer at the centre of a fire tragedy in which a female worker died is now being accused of denying her a burial on the farm.

S'dudla Magwaza, 50, was among several farm workers who were allegedly ordered by farm owner Ian de Jager to put out a runaway fire on the Willow Farm in Dannhauser in KwaZuluNatal last week.

Magwaza burnt to death after flames overwhelmed her.

De Jager has, however, told police that he was not at the farm at the time of the fire, and said he would contribute R4000 towards the funeral.

Police have opened an inquest docket.

Molifa Mokoena, Magwaza's brother-in- law, said the burial will take place on Saturday in Ezakheni, 150km away from the farm.

De Jager was not available for comment.
